Apple Resourcing are looking for an experienced Import Clerk to join our client, a UK leading Importer and Wholesale Distributor, on a full-time permanent basis in Basildon.

Working hours are Monday- Friday 9am-5pm, Salary NEG DOE + Benefits !

Responsibilities;

• Process import shipments and provide documentation to facilitate customs clearance and container release
• Checking and processing import documents and entering on to the TIMS system
• Checking and compiling import documentation to allow for customs entry
• Checking commodity codes are correct and scanning/forwarding to clearing agent
• Checking and lodging additional documentation for items with import controls to the appropriate regulatory body
• Completing CHEDS and PDDs
• Lodging original bills of lading and arranging for containers to be released
• Processing import clearance advices; checking containers are cleared, landed and released before passing over to the warehouse for booking
• Checking customs entries to ensure the correct amount of duty and additional duties have been paid
• Receipt costing goods to ensure the correct shipment costs are allocated
• Negotiating rates for and arranging air freight shipments
• Re-claiming duty where over paid
• Arranging return shipment of rejected goods, providing the required documentation and re-claiming duty when required
• Providing weekly reports on new shipments processed
• Providing weekly reports on new shipments processed
• Processing purchase orders
• Inputting data onto the mainframe system
• General clerical and administration duties

Requirements;

• Must have previous Import Sea freight experience
• Previous customs experience
• IT – Excel spreadsheets, Inhouse Operational Cargowise System
• Excellent attention to detail
• Able to work to tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
